Website Design
Studies show that a good website design helps to increase conversions substantially. Think about the look and appeal of a website when you are shopping online yourself. Take note of its details and write them down. If you are a do it yourself optimizer, consider such factors as on-page usability, ease of navigation, accessibility and help.
Website Color Selections
Consider a search scenario. A search is performed for a set of cute return address labels and the searcher enters the keyword phrase in the search box. A set of results are returned in what is known as the SERPs, or search engine results.
The user scans through the website page titles and briefly reads the META descriptions either provided by the webmaster using META tags, or picked up by the search engine from the available text. As the user selects a URL from among other labels and stationary listings, a selection is made and the searcher is taken to the chosen website's landing page for that search.
Immediately the colors of the website are displayed as the HTML is rendered in the user's browser. As it loads, images in the form of gif's and jpg's are shown, along with background colors displayed and text. It is interesting to note that text plays a very important role in site design because that is what the visitor is after anyway.
The overall website design cannot be underestimated as a webmaster considers an overall color palette as it relates to his or her website audience. If it is kids gardening projects the searcher is after, it may be green in color; or if it relates to wedding address labels, it may be white and black with maybe a bit of a rose or peachish color leaning more to the feminine side.
Some websites are blog websites and they take on an entirely different style and theme, than a more traditional website with the About Us, Contact Us, Products, Services and Privacy Policy links which you normally see on an ecommerce website.
Blog website design is based upon weblog posts with comments issued by readers beneath. The newest post is always placed on top so that readers always enjoy current material as they visit the site.
Some blogs, like the Hummert blog offer advertisements related to the site's content, so that readers can visit those advertiser's websites if they are interested.
Website design for weblogs, or blogs, are just as important because they too appeal to a target audience. Most blog software applications such as Movable Type by Six Apart or Wordpress, can be modified to the webmaster's choosing. These blog sites can include blogrolls, RSS feeds, and tag clouds. Hummert can help with content syndication and RSS feeds for your site. Just contact us for assistance.
